Growing up in Baltimore City you don't develop a taste for travel. Sure, I may have had dreams about going to certain places but the reality of making them happen was a whole different story. Being a wedding photographer has changed that completely. Getting the email for Shawn & Arlysa's Key West wedding last May was the start of our love affair with Miami. The weather, the beaches, the FOOD and even the oxygen in Miami Beach is to die for. Of all the places we have got to travel over the last few years it is my absolute favorite. I was just getting the " I need a Miami trip" itch when long time FB acquaintance Letonya of Priceless Moments, a Maryland based event planning and design firm, contacted me about capturing her couple's destination engagement session. In less than a week we had everything coordinated and the whole family was on the road for a little Spring Break R & R.
I love that on occasion we can take our family to enjoy the world with us. Funny as it is, a lot of times we forget to take photos for ourselves. This year I decided to make sure I document these special times because our babies are totally getting big so much faster than we ever expected.
The most exciting thing about connecting with this couple was their involvement with the session. As fellow Miami lovers they had a vision in mind that we were all to happy to bring to fruition starting with the Wynwood Art District. Being that we were completely smitten with the beaches and 2 for 1 fish bowls on our previous trips this part of MIA came as a pleasant surprise. Curtis, who is a graphic designer, fell in love with the community's murals and knew this would be a groovy place to take their e-session pics. Luckily for him his fiancee' planned a birthday celebration for him making that possible. Keeping in mind that no Florida session would ever be complete without a little beach we headed down to Ocean Drive for part 2. Our very first destination portrait session went perfectly. See for yourself!
